Well, this one goes in English, cause well, I am the only Spanish speaking person I know who listens to The Rentals, and if your are the other only person in the world who listens to them, you’ll understand anyway ![]()
It seems all my posts lately are about music in some way or another, but I can’t help it, these songs deserve it. This one is pretty new, from The Rentals latest album Songs About Time, and it’s a strange thing its lyrics aren’t anywhere, because they are terrific. That being said, if you find some words that don’t make sense, they probably don’t. That’s because I had a really hard time trying to understand what Matt Sharp (the singer) sung (it took me hours, well… some minutes, to figure out that “crafohel” was in fact “cry for help”).
Less words and more Rentals, the lyrics:
So now we have all this technology
to send apologies
that swim inside our heads
so words are bouncing off satellites
through the lonely night
landing right inside our hands
but words are nonetheless romantic
so cross the Atlantic in some virtual cry for help
it’s been one more Summer,
one more season,
one more Winter by yourself
write it, write it, write it down
(I will read it when your days don’t move so fast)
write it, write it, write it down
(it’s the story of a thousand seasons past)
So replicate those memories
in a diary
on a nightstand by your bed
along to the old theology
of all the mysteries
locked away inside your head
because it looks like I missed this
another Christmas, another birthday, another land
one more Summer,
one more season,
one more Winter without a cent
write it, write it, write it down
(I will read it when your days don’t move so fast)
write it, write it, write it down
(it’s the story of a thousand seasons past)
but words are nonetheless romantic
so cross the Atlantic in some virtual cry for help
it’s been one more Summer,
one more season,
one more Winter by yourself
write it, write it, write it down
(I will read it when your days don’t move so fast)
write it, write it, write it down
(it’s the story of a thousand seasons past)
write it, write it, write it down
(I will read it when your days don’t move so fast)
write it, write it, write it down
(it’s the story of a thousand seasons past)
And for those who actually read this post, here you can download the song.
En realidad, Interstella 5555 – The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, es la película musical de anime que ví el domingo pasado, por recomendación de Andrés, y con resultados varios. ¿Por qué miré una película musical, se preguntarán y me preguntaré? porque la música está hecha por Daft Punk, ese dúo de franceses raros y electrónicos que pocas veces muestran la cara, y que son superconocidos por canciones como Technologic (buy it, use it, break it, fix it, trash it, change it, mail, upgrade it), Around the World (que en una época ponían en las propagandas de Nickelodeon) y One More Time (la más conocida de todas, con esta abre la película).
